This 20 minute Lavash Pizza with Italian Chicken Sausage is a flavorful pizza you can customize to your taste with whatever fresh toppings you have on hand. Make this for your next pizza night in and indulge in a delicious, healthy pizza!

Why This Lavash Pizza with Italian Chicken Sausage is fantastic:
Lots of veggies: Choose your favorite veggies and pile them on! The more veggies you add the better - veggies add extra fiber and vitamins!
Healthier Ingredients: Chicken sausage instead of pork sausage, low fat mozzarella instead of full fat mozzarella, and lavash bread instead of regular pizza dough all combine to increase the protein and lower the fat and carbs.
Quick and Easy: This pizza takes just 20 mins to come together with a cutting board and baking sheet.

The easiest way to increase your fiber and vitamins is to top your pizza with colorful, fresh non-starchy vegetables. I used red bell pepper, red onion and fresh basil. Other good non-starchy vegetable toppings are green bell peppers, mushrooms, kale, artichoke, zucchini, fennel, spinach, tomatoes, arugula, fresh herbs, hot peppers, and olives.
Simply switching from Italian pork sausage to Italian chicken sausage will significantly decrease your calories from fat! I like to use the Trader Joe's Spicy Italian Chicken Sausage. Most stores will have a few different brands of chicken sausage to choose from in both the frozen and refrigerated sections.
Similar to the sausage, simply switching from regular to low fat mozzarella cheese will reduce your calories from fat. Low fat mozzarella cheese has 2 grams of fat per 1/4 cup while regular mozzarella has 6 grams of fat per 1/4 cup.
In this low calorie recipe you will use Joseph's Lavash bread as your crust! It will save you time, calories and carbs - the entire flatbread is only 120 calories and will serve two people. It is also higher in fiber than traditional breads and can be used as a wrap or quesadilla for your next sandwich.
Lastly, try a low sodium marinara sauce as your base. Marinara has much less fat and calories than pesto or olive oil base sauces. There is plenty of sodium in the crust, cheese and sausage so cutting back in the sauce is good!

Ingredients for Lavash Pizza with Italian Chicken Sausage
1 Joseph's Lavash Bread
Trader Joe's Spicy Italian Chicken Sausage
Shredded Low Fat Mozzarella Cheese
1/4th cup tomato sauce
Optional non-starchy vegetable toppings: chopped bell pepper, chopped mushroom, chopped red onion
Optional: Fresh parsley or basil for garnish
Step 1: Toast the crust
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Put one Lavash on a parchment lined baking sheet. Toast on each side for 3 minutes. Prep the chicken sausage by removing the casing with paring knife. Then slice or crumble the sausage into bite size pieces. Some chicken sausage is not already fully cooked so if you bought raw sausage you will need to cook that first.
Step 2: Add toppings
Take Lavash out of the oven. Add 1/2 cup marinara sauce (or less if desired). Sprinkle 1 cup of the low fat mozzarella cheese and spread evenly over the entire pizza crust. Distribute the chicken sausage evenly and fill in with your veggie toppings!
Step 3: Bake
Bake until the cheese is melted and the chicken sausage is slightly brown - approximately 6-7 minutes.
